GVST is looking for a person(s) to join our marketing and community outreach team primarily to promote the Go Gardening Show and Gardening Essentials classes.

Experience: 

No formal experience is necessary, but some understanding of social media, online marketing and other communications practices is preferred. Additionally, GVST is looking for people who are interested/passionate about teaching the community how to convert high water use landscapes to low water use landscapes featuring South Texas native plants. We currently do this primarily through GVST’s monthly Go Gardening Show and Gardening Essentials classes.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Go Gardening team to expand the show’s reach and engagement. Identify outreach opportunities, contact and work with potential partners, assist in promoting the show each month through social media posts, Facebook advertising, GVST’s email newsletter, and other communications outlets as developed with the team.

• While it won’t be required, the successful candidate will be welcome to join the Go Gardening team at its video shoots.

• Work with the GVST volunteers in promoting the Gardening Essentials monthly classes.

• Assist in other communications activities such as brainstorming promotional ideas, helping develop those ideas, connecting with media outlets, assisting with GVST branding efforts, working with GVST leadership to inform members about GVST outreach efforts, and gathering feedback regarding Go Gardening, Gardening Essentials and other GVST programs.

• This is a part-time position with a minimum of 16 hours per month needed by GVST. The position is unpaid, however, GVST is willing to discuss percentage of sales compensation for acquisition of sponsors for Go Gardening. 

GVST is made up of fun-loving gardening enthusiasts, many with interesting professional careers, who are dedicated to helping San Antonio and surrounding areas preserve its natural resources by teaching the benefits of utilizing native plants in their landscapes.
