Go Gardening Season 4-Episode 1 2025
Welcome to Season 4 of Go Gardening Presented by -

Many thanks to our title sponsors Edwards Aquifer Authority and Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District for helping bring Go Gardening to the Bexar County community. We also appreciate our ongoing support from the San Antonio River Authority.
Go Gardening Show - Season 4 - Episode 1 starts off with a jewel in San Antonio, the Headwaters Nature Preserve next door to the campus of Incarnate Word University. One of the reasons this spot is so famous is because it is home to the "Blue Hole," an Edwards Aquifer fed spring that used to supply all of the water in the San Antonio River. Executive Director Pam Ball showed us around the Preserve and how they are taking out nonnative plants and replanting with native trees and shrubs. We also visited their Circle of Springs native plant garden and learned what types of native plants they have and how they maintain them. Since it is February, you'll get an idea of how your winter garden should look. Don't miss this great learning experience about one of San Antonio's most important natural resources and how to prepare your winter garden for the coming spring.

Next up, Go Gardening's gregarious host (say that quickly three times) gives us a lesson on how and when to prune your native plants this month. And, Mark digs around in his own yard to tell us all about the importance of adding organic compost this time of year. It's all included in this season's first edition of "Mark's How To" in the garden.
Go Gardening's mission is to help people conserve water in the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers by teaching homeowners how to convert turfgrass areas to low-to-no water use landscapes featuring native plants.
