Session 1:
"Creating Herbal Landscapes"

Learn how to design beautiful, fragrant and useful herbs into your existing landscapes, or create new herbal spaces. Herbalist and designer Diane Lewis will discuss design history, basics and planning; the roles different herbs play in the landscape; how to select the right herbs for the right spaces; compatible hardscapes and ideas for herbal theme gardens.

Diane Lewis holds an AAS degree in Landscaping and Horticulture from Palo Alto College. She interned with the San Antonio Urban biologists in the Texas Parks and Wildlife "Wildscape" program. She has taught CE classes at Palo Alto College and currently teaches herb gardening and cooking classes for NEISD at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. She is a designer, consultant and instructor, focusing on herbs, native plants, wildscapes and xeriscapes. Her background in the field of microbiology (she holds a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Missouri at Columbia) gives her added insight into natural gardening methods and the science side of gardening.
