About

Gardening Volunteers of South Texas (GVST) is a 501c3 corporation, founded in 2002.

We offer monthly horticulture and gardening classes, work on gardening projects with other civic organizations, and participate in major gardening events throughout the year. We do not conduct formal meetings, or charge membership dues or fees. As volunteers, we share a common bond that comes from learning, working and socializing together.

We work closely with San Antonio Water System to provide education outreach about the importance of water conservation, and practicing watersaving gardening and landscaping.

In addition to working with SAWS, GVST is also a member of the Texas Department of Agriculture's GOTEXAN ™ program, the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association, and San Antonio Garden Center.

Our Mission Statement:

GVST was organized exclusively for charitable, civic, scientific and educational purposes, primarily to participate in the research and development of horticulture and agricultural products, promote environmental awareness and water conservation, and serve as an educational resource for the community. We will work with other private, public and educational organizations involved in these and related programs.
